Amager is an island and a district of Copenhagen. The northern part of the island is connected to the city centre of Copenhagen by several bridges, including the famous Langebro and Knippelsbro.

Since Copenhagen is known as being one of the most bicycle friendly cities, you can get around by bike quickly and easily, but Amager also offers great opportunities for public transportation with metro and bus, that connects at the big nodes. Amager is also known for the Copenhagen Airport, the biggest airport in Denmark.

Everything is within reach, when you and your family live in an Amager apartment. Amager has great options for shopping and groceries and you can find anything from health stores, specialty and exotic stores and of course all of the well equipped grocery stores.

When it is time to get some fresh air and spend time in relaxing surroundings you have several nature settings close to your new apartment on Amager.

Amager Fælled is a protected area with lots of nature and wildlife, whilst still being incredibly close to the city and many people like to go for a hike on the large trail known as the “Amarmino”. When the weather allows it you can spend a day at the beach at Amager Strandpark, which is a huge beach park where people gather to cool off, play, sunbathe and go for a picnic.

We continuously get new available apartments but if we do not have any available at this moment, you are welcome to use our request form. This form allows you to fill out all of your criteria for your new Amager apartment and we will try to accommodate the best way possible.

We understand that you would like to live on Amager. It is a lovely area where you have everything within reach and you do not have to compromise with either city life or nature.
Our Amager rental apartments are all centrally located and you will have access to green recreational areas, shopping, restaurants and public transportation. Moreover, you are in short distance from the city centre, where you can go by car, bike or public transportation.

When living in one of our Amager apartments, you are also close to the ocean and nature in Amager Fælled while still having the pulsating life of the city in the back of your pocket. You will get easily from A to B by bike or the public transportation and you will also be close to the Copenhagen airport.

Make sure to make use of the neighbourhood and visit Amager beach, called Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen. Make sure to visit the Blue Planet Amager too.

Daycare, kindergarten and schools on Amager

If you have small children or children in school, you can advantageously choose to live in an Amager apartment from City Apartment. Amager has a lot of schools, both private and public, but also daycare facilities and kindergartens.

The daycare facilities and kindergartens are evenly spread throughout the area, so you can be sure to find a childcare institution in your neighbourhood. It is also possible to find an integrated daycare and kindergarten, so that your child does not have to change childcare institution.
You can find all the information about each daycare and kindergarten on the Copenhagen municipality website. Here, you will find the locations, but it is also here where you can reserve a spot in the preferred institution for your child.

There are many schools located on Amager where your child will get the necessary education, knowledge and lots of friendships.
Among the public schools you will find Kalvebod Fælled Skole, Lergravsparkens Skole, Peder Lykke Skolen, Ørestad Skole and Skolen ved Sundet. If you wish for your child to attend private school, you can take a look at Amager Lilleskole or Amager Privatskole.
It is also possible to find an international school, Øresunds Internationale Skole, if your child needs education in English or another language other than Danish.

Amager restaurants and cafes

Our Amager apartments make it possible to enjoy the many nice cafes and restaurants in the area. Regardless of the area of Amager you will always be able to find a cosy place to have a bite or enjoy a coffee to stay or to go, if you would like to enjoy the surroundings.

A nice Amager cafe usually has a wide variety of snacks, cakes and types of coffees. You can usually also choose between the classic or the plant based option.

You will find a lot of different cuisines in the Amager restaurants. Everything from classic Danish or French, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Nordic, Italian and everything in between.

Parking Amager

You will find both free and paid parking on Amager and you should always make sure to check the parking rules for the specific area.
If you live in one of our Amager apartments it is often possible to get a resident parking permit, depending on the area. You can read more about this on the Copenhagen municipality website.

Amager is divided into multiple municipalities and they all have different parking rules. In the area near Islands Brygge in the Copenhagen municipality you will find a blue parking zone, which is paid parking. In other areas you will find free parking on Amager in a time-limited period.
